1. I'm writing to you to tell you how much I'm wanting to see you.
I'm wanting → sai. Động từ want không dùng ở thì tiếp diễn vì nó chỉ trạng thái, không phải hành động.
Sửa: I'm writing to you to tell you how much I want to see you.

2. Jack is away on business, so now I look after his dog.
look after → sai. Thói quen/hành động hiện tại, để nhấn mạnh tính tạm thời, dùng tiếp diễn.
Sửa: Jack is away on business, so now I am looking after his dog.

3. Nam's often looking untidy.
often + present continuous sai. Với trạng thái lặp đi lặp lại, dùng thì hiện tại đơn.
Sửa: Nam often looks untidy.

4. She can't answer the phone now. She cooks dinner.
She cooks dinner → sai. Hành động này ở hiện tại, dùng thì hiện tại đơn.
Sửa: She can't answer the phone now. She is cooking dinner.

5. Excuse me, do you read the newspaper? Could I borrow it?
Do you read the newspaper? →  nghe như hỏi thói quen chung, nhưng ngữ cảnh là tờ báo đang cầm ngay lúc này, phải dùng tiếp diễn.

Sửa: Excuse me, are you reading the newspaper? Could I borrow it?
6. What are your family doing in the evenings?
in the evenings → chỉ thói quen,việc làm hằng ngày, phải dùng hiện tại đơn.
Sửa: What does your family do in the evenings?
