The world will be an exciting place in 50 year's time! Our experts have made some predictions about what they think will happen, before too long.

Technology

Many of us have phones in our houses, but 50 years from now, we will have things called ‘mobile phones’. We will be able to take them everywhere with us, and call people at any time! They will be the same size as a small suitcase, meaning that they will be easy to carry around.

Fashion

In 50 years’ time, people won't be as interested in fashion as we are now. Instead, people are going to concentrate on clothes that are cheap and easy to throw away. Clothes will be made of paper, and will all look the same. After wearing our new clothes once, we won't have to wash them or dry them. We will simply be able to throw them away. We won't need washing machines any more, and we will have much more free time!

Food

There will be at least 5 billion people living in the world, 50 years from now. Of course, there won't be enough food for everyone unless we change the things we eat. Things like chicken or beef will become extremely expensive, and people will only eat it rarely, or maybe never. Instead, we will eat more insects - a cheap and healthy form of meat.

Travel

There will be lots of robots helping us in the future. People won't clean their own homes or go shopping. They will have robots to do these boring jobs for them. Robots will also drive us everywhere. People will sit comfortably in cars, sleeping, reading or watching films, while the car drives all by itself, at incredible speeds of over 200 kilometres an hour! 

Entertainment

People won't have a TV in their homes any more, or buy newspapers. Everyone will wear watches with large screens on them. It doesn’t matter if people are at home, at work or on the street, they will be able to see films, news, or weather forecasts thanks to their watches.
