In my family, we usually celebrate Tết, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, which is the most important holiday of the year. It’s a time when everyone comes together to honor our ancestors and wish for a prosperous new year. We prepare a variety of traditional foods, including bánh chưng, a square sticky rice cake, and pickled onions, as offerings on the altar. The house is cleaned and decorated with peach blossoms and kumquat trees to invite good fortune. On Tết, we gather to enjoy big family meals, play games, and give red envelopes (lì xì) to children for luck and prosperity. The atmosphere is full of joy, with lively music, laughter, and exciting traditions that bring the whole family closer. It’s a special time for reflection, expressing gratitude, and looking forward to new beginnings .
