In contemporary society, the debate over whether children should be required to participate in household chores becomes more and more contentious over the last decades. To some, they argue that such engagement in housework tasks can help children to be self-reliant, while others protest that it can put the innocence of childhood in jeopardy. I wholeheartedly agree that younger members of the household should be responsible for cleaning and taking care of the house and other members of the family, and the reasons will be meticulously listed in this talk.
First and foremost, letting children do such chores can greatly help every member of the family to reach their dream lifestyle. When parents are not letting their children, they are the ones responsible for the house and their kids, which can often be seen as a burden when 75.2% of Vietnamese adults are working nine-to-five according to research conducted by Department of Population and Labour Statistics in Vietnam. To illustrate, when parents who allowed their children to cook and clean by themself, they will feel a sense of freedom and they can be more concentrated on their jobs. As such, there is a general saying that hard work pays off, and the income of both the adults in charge of the family will increase, thus leading both the parents and the children to enjoy a better life.
Furthermore, children who have past experiences from doing housework can have an advantage in terms of their future job prospects. By participating in household chores, children learn the value of contributing to the family unit. Those good deeds, which can translate into a stronger work ethic, can help them stand out in their academic and professional applications. For instance, a child who regularly helps with cooking or cleaning may develop a greater appreciation for the effort required to maintain a household, thereby fostering a sense of understanding and leadership to other kids that are struggling to do such things.
In conclusion, despite compelling arguments on why children should not be doing house chores, it is my belief that letting them doing it is most beneficial in terms of future prospects and better life quality for everyone.
