CHINESE NEW YEAR (TẾT TRUNG QUỐC)
Each country has its own customs and traditions which show the culture and lifestyle of the entire nation. China is not out of that rule. This country has a variety of customs and traditions. They use Lunar Calendar to know the date of New Year. Therefore, we will tell you some popular customs and traditions in China.
The first tradition of Chinese New Year is making dumplings. It is similar to making Chung cake in Vietnam, but the difference is dumplings. Before the New Year starts, the Chinese will make dumplings as a specialty of the New Year in that country. They mix flour, water, and a little bit of salt together. Then they cut it into much small mixed flour and put mixed meat into mixed flour. Finally, they warm it up and enjoy eating those dumplings.
The following tradition of Chinese New Year is going to the pagoda. When the New Year starts, the Chinese always go to the pagoda. They want to remove the drawback side in their mind, take some luck for their family to have a job in advance, have good health, and avoid bad things.
In addition, lucky money is a custom of the Chinese New Year. We know that our country also has that tradition which is similar to China a lot. Mostly, children take luck money more than adults do because adults are people who give the children lucky money, and then they will receive thanks with many good words of health and work from those children.
Finally, we found out about the firework display and lion dance. That is an extremely important thing for Chinese New Year because it makes people more active and happier on that special day. In the firework display, someone will burn the firework and then wait for it to watch it fly fast. Then, when it gets to the highest, it explodes as a colorful flower. Lion dance, two people will get into the lion disguise, then they go for the crowd and do a beautiful and risky dance for everyone to watch. It is fun.
In short, Chinese New Year has chaotic customs and traditions like Vietnamese New Year. It is much more familiar, and it can be easier to live or go abroad here.
