Câu tường thuật có từ để hỏi ( what, when, where, why, how,...) thì sẽ để ở dạng:

-wh question + S + V(lùi thì)

2. “ Do you play soccer?”

She asked me if I played soccer.

Câu tường thuật ở dạng yes/no question thì sẽ chia :

if + S + V(lùi thì)

hoặc whether + S + V(lùi thì) + or not

3. “ Do you speak Japanese?”

She asked me if I spoke Japanese.

Câu tường thuật ở dạng yes/no question thì sẽ chia :

if + S + V(lùi thì)

4. “How do you go to school?”

She asked me how I went to school.
